Study Questions - Why Am I Here?

Mal addressed the fundamental need we all have to seek answers to questions like –
Who am I? Why am I here? What am I worth?

1. Read John 13:1-17
How did Jesus answer those questions in this passage?
What did his actions reveal about his identity?

2. Discuss the following quotes-

* It’s amazing what people will put up with if there is purpose in the pain.

* Only 5-15% of young Australian girls feel good about themselves.

* Nobody wants to change the world these days, but they all want to be famous.

* I haven’t found anyone who is happy in their middle age who hasn’t found an answer to the fundamental question – Why am I here? What is my purpose in life?

* The average father talks meaningfully to his teenage child for no more than 70 seconds a day.

3. In the UK Jesus has gone missing from the list of people most admired for the first time. Why is that?

4. What reason would you give a young person to go on living in the midst of their pain and disillusionment?
