Passage: Luke 19:28-44
Message: Who is This?
Theme: Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday has always had a triumphant ring about it. The Church through the centuries has celebrated it. A close look shows that many things were very different to the way they looked on the surface.

1. Religion in general has always been associated with pomp and ceremony and fanfare. Give examples.

2. Read Luke 19:37-38 People in Jerusalem were looking for Jesus to be all different things [Miracle, Ritual, Military, Popular Jesus!] What are people looking for Jesus to be today? Explain.

3. “There is more to following Jesus than enthusiasm.” Is the Church today preoccupied with exciting the saints or equipping the saints? Discuss.

4. Read Luke 19:42. What did they not know? How did they miss it? What does this have to say to us today?

5. Remember ‘Plastic Jesus’. What does the Bible teach us about who Jesus is? What does that mean to you? What difference does it make to your life?

What sorts of things about Jesus would you tell someone who is not a Christian. How would you explain the difference Jesus would make in their life?
