Passage: Exodus 35-36
Message: Giving More Than Enough
Series: Money Matters
These are not only days of ‘economic rationalism’, they are days of ‘economic pragmatism’. That is, we spend our money on that which works for us. We spend our money on things we think are worth it.
1. These are days when we have more money but we are more in debt than ever before. What is happening?
2. Read Exodus 35:4-9; 20-22; 29.
These people gave because they believed God was WORTHY of it.
* How do we determine worth?
* What does our giving say about how much God is worth?
* What is our responsibility to the Church?
* Is the Church worth investing in, especially in these days when it is ‘on the nose’ in the eyes of society? (some will differentiate between Church and Kingdom. For discussion, we will assume that the Church is about Kingdom. It is often a matter of debate as to where Church and Kingdom business separates.)
* God’s worth cannot be measured merely in terms of what he means to us. Discuss
3. These people gave because they knew how much they had been BLESSED.
* Read Luke 7:36-48 “…..he who has been forgiven little loves little.†Do we have a sense today of how much we are forgiven people? Why / why not?
* Read Psalm 103:1-2. How blessed are we? Have we just learned about these blessings or do they really make a difference to our lives?
* What does our giving have to say about how much we have been blessed?
