“We live in a secularised, materialistic and hedonistic society which for the most part couldn’t give two-hoots about the church. The question is, how can we - you and I - make a difference? How can we impact our world with the life changing message of Jesus?â€
1. The instructions given to the church by the Apostle Peter in verses 7-11, appear to be motivated by the phrase “The end of all things is nearâ€. What do you think he meant and why should this be a motivation?
2. What mistakes can we make about the second coming of Christ?
3. How is the ability to pray linked with being clear minded and self controlled?
4. How is the command in verse 8 to love each other deeply made possible?
5. Jesus said, "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. What are the characteristics of “love†that will make the world sit up and take notice?
6. Peter gives a significant list of commands in this passage, for what reason do you think he includes “hospitality†(v9)?
7. “Every Christian has been given a gift and is expected to use it by serving others to build community…†Discuss
8. How do we serve (one another) with the strength that God provides (v11)? Why is this important?
