“If we are ever going to see a spiritual awakening take place in this generation – in the church of Jesus Christ, in our community of Unley Park, in our state and in our nation – it will only come about as a result of prayer.” Discuss

1. “What becomes evident as you read the book of Acts is that the power of God and the provision of God are released through Christians who pray.” What is the relationship between “prayer and God’s provision”

2. At that very first prayer meeting (in 1:14), the disciples prayed with “great expectancy”. When we come together to pray, do we pray expectantly, believing God will hear and answer our prayers? Why or why not?

3. Hebrews 11:6 says “... he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Discuss

4. “….you can pray on your own but something powerful happens when the church comes together in unity to pray!” Why is that?

5. What are some of the characteristics that unite us as Christians. How does this aid our praying?

6 “The disciples’ prayer was not a flash in the pan. It was consistent, persistent, focussed prayer which became the vitality and power behind the New Testament church.” Discuss
